Front Row Wedge

John Cocozza Photography

Front Row Wedge was photographed during the massive summertime Hurricane Marie swell at The Wedge in Newport Beach, California on August 27th, 2014.  After watching the surf reports for days and seeing how big the would be, I decided to drive up the night before and sleep in my SUV.  I had a feeling that it was going to be a 3 ring circus up at The Wedge and I wanted to make sure I had a close parking spot.  Thankfully I got a parking spot right near the beach, cause by 7am people were parking over 1 mile away.   The surf was massive that morning and this was my first visit to The Wedge.  Watching surfers, bodyboarders, and bodysurfers ride these bombs only feet from shore was like watching gladiators in the arena.   It was an awesome spectacle.
